nice Trooper, and what is this thing sticking up?

Which thing? The trooper has an aerial and mirror on the wing.

well, both, I guess. We never got either of those :(
I'm surprised it has the mirror there especially since there's a mirror on the door!

I assume it's for seeing better when towing or something.

How about a Big Block Chevy engine in a Miata? It sort of fits.

Also awesome. Needs a blower for full effect.

The JDM vehicles have a mirror on the front wings, parking purposes I believe.

Yeah I know about the JDM mirrors, I just thought they'd be instead of the regular door mirrors and not in addition to

The regular mirrors would be for, well, regular mirror usage while the front wing mirror would be purely to aid parking in small spaces and seeing exactly where your vehicle is in relation to the kerbside. It's a practical idea and some vehicles like Land Rover combine cameras in the wing mirrors viewable on a central screen for off roading and parking.
